The Riecks

When I got married to my husband I inherited an amazing group of friends. My husband had the best friends, who had the best wives. I felt so incredibly fortunate and the fact that we’re still close with so many of them even now is a gift. I never imagined that my husband’s brother would do likewise with his friend group. I met the Riecks through my brother in law and once again, I find myself incredibly blessed to have met this wonderful family and call them my own friends.

I met up with Ben and Sandie, and their daughter Annabelle at the Wild Horse Pass Interpretive Trail in Phoenix. I had stumbled upon this little gem while perusing the All Trails app. I did a little location scouting and knew that it would be a perfect spot for our family photo shoot. They showed up looking, as the kids say these days, on fleek!

Ben is the CFO of a company, he knows how to smoke and BBQ meat to perfection and enjoys the taste of a good whiskey. Sandie is a former social worker who served the least of these, a mom to an incredibly sharp 7 year old, has good listening ears, and is one tough cookie. Annabelle, oh my goodness, she’s so smart and when she talks I forget that I’m speaking with a 7 year old because she speaks with the composure and presence of someone much, much older.

Our time together was nothing short of amazing! Mother nature showed up and showed out with a glorious golden sunset which made for some amazing sun flares. There were beautiful clouds stretched across the sky to add texture to an already beautiful backdrop. And the Rieck family made my job easy, moving seamlessly in and out of the cues I gave them.

This family, they delight me with their humor and their adventurous spirits and their natural born entertainer vibe. They are generous with their home and with their friendships. Ben, Sandie, and Annabelle…thank you for letting me capture a few fleeting moments in your lives. And thank you for welcoming our family into yours.

All My Love,
